The final three nominees for the African Player of the Year award have been revealed.

Confederation of African Football, CAF, has released  a list of the final three nominees for the African Player of the Year award. The list features 2015 winner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who plies his trade for German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund. The Gabon international is also accompanied by Algeria's Riyad Mahrez who plays for Premier League defending champions Leicester City, and Senegalese forward Sadio Mane who plays for Liverpool. 

Aubayeyang is still blazing red hot this seaosn, ahving already scored 16 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances. In the Champions League, he has scored four goals in five appearances for Thomas Tuchel's men. He made his debut for Gabon in 2009 and has since scored 21 goals in 52 appearances for the Panthers. Mahrez, on the other hand, has been instrumental in the Foxes' good run in the Champions League this season thanks to his three goals and 24 chances created in 17 appearances. The speedy winger has 27 caps for Algeria and six goals to his name since 2014 when he made his debut.Sadio Mane wraps up the list with eight league goals scored in 16 appearances. The ex-Saint has been instrumental in Liverpool's recent resurgence in the Premier League, a performance that has transformed them to title contenders. He made his first appearance for Senegal in 2012 and has since scored 10 goals in 38 appearances. FIFA have also announced the final three nominees fo the African Player of the Year - Based in Africa. They include Ugandan goalkeeper Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns), Zimbabwean Khama Billiat (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Zambia's Rainford Kalaba (TP Mazembe. The winners of the two categories will be announced at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala on Thursday January 5, 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.
