And there were fines and more calls for jail sentences elsewhere in the fraud case involving the Selecao star,

The corruption case regarding Barcelona and Neymar has just gone from bad to worse. As per AS, a Spanish court has called for the Brazilian superstar to be sentenced to two years in prison.

Investment fund DIS presented their lawsuit against the Selecao ace, his parents, the Blaugrana, and their former president Sandro Rosell over claims that they were defrauded. The company owned 40% of the Santos ace’s rights when he completed his move to Camp Nou.

The company demanded €159m- €195m for “loss of earnings” due to the 2013 move, whilst also fighting for eight-year jail sentences for Rosell and Josep María Bartomeu. Although the charges against the current Barca president were asked to be dropped, the Spanish court called instead for Rosell – who resigned from Barca due to this controversy – to be put behind bars for five years instead.

The nightmare didn’t stop there, as High Court prosecutor José Perals recommended that Neymar be fined €10m and be banned from all football activities for the duration of his sentence.

Perals also insisted that Neymar’s parents spend time behind bars – a two year sentence for his father and one for his mother. The court also demanded a €8.4m fine for the Catalan giants, and €7m for Santos.

Neymar was due to feature for Luis Enrique’s boys on Wednesday, as the Spanish Primera Division champions gear up for a clash with Celtic in the Champions League.
