Serie A matchday 13 talking points

SERIE A WEEKEND WRAP-UP: Historic Juve, Hart and Torino soar, Milan and Inter share spoils

November 21, 2016 By Michelle Bonsu
The highlight of this weekend's round of Serie A action was arguably the Derby della Madonnina, but there were other major talking points on matchday 13. takes a look at what went down this weekend.

And first blood in this season's Derby della Madonnina goes to...

Neither! AC Milan and Inter ended up sharing the spoils. In what was an entertaining 90-plus minutes of action, the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri played to a two-all draw. Diavolo supporters, however, arguably will be the ones with the most mixed emotions, especially after Inter drew level through a late, late goal from Ivan Perisic. However, this nifty stat is certainly encouraging:

As for Inter fans, they surely will be happy with this result - especially considering they had to come from behind twice. The Nerazzurri have had an awful season so far, and are already under the tutelage of their third coach in just four months. It remains to be seen whether this will be the launching pad for the team to improve their fortunes under new coach Stefano Pioli.

Juventus makes history...but this may make you feel really old...

Juventus are presently dealing with an injury crisis up front of sorts. Paulo Dybala is out, as is Croatian new signing Marko Pjaca. This past weekend, the Bianconeri took on Pescara. The Delfini have failed to win a game since being awared a 3-0 win over Sassuolo after the Neroverdi fielded an ineligible player. With a crunch clash against Sevilla coming up, Massimiliano Allegri had a somewhat tricky situation on his hands.

But predictably, Juve cruised to a 3-0 win, allowing him to bring on Moise Kean. In doing so, the 16-year-old became the first player born in the current millennium to feature in the Italian top flight. Kean, who was born in 2000, has shone for La Vecchia Signora's youth ranks and has been named on the bench for several of the senior squad's games.

16-year-old Moise Kean made history as the first player born in 2000 to feature for the senior team during Juve's 3-0 win over Pescara

With Gonzalo Higuain reportedly out for their upcoming Sevilla game, Mario Mandzukic is the only remaining senior striker available. Will this mean that Kean can make history in the Champions League as well this Tuesday?

So, are Atalanta the real deal?

Speaking of kids, Atalanta, who have relied on youngsters like Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie, continued their amazing rise. With their win over Roma - during which Kessie netted a late goal to clinch all three points - La Dea have now won four consecutive matches and are on an eight-match unbeaten streak. It's simply impressive, considering they won one out of their first five games. And with 25 points, Gian Piero Gasperini's side are doing better than they have ever done before.

No, really. This stat illustrates just that:

A good day at the office for Joe Hart

Meanwhile, Torino continued their push for a European football spot. The Granata have had their ups and downs this term, but in beating Crotone 2-0, they continue to keep up some pressure on Napoli, who have been struggling as of late.

Well, it was not easy, but they were able to eventually see off the staunchly defensive debutants. It was a great day at the office for Joe Hart, who recorded another clean sheet, but more important, for his colleague Andrea Belotti as well:
