Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerard could make a sensational return to the Merseyside club. This comes days after he officially confirmed that he would be leaving his MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of the year. Despite attracting interest from a number of MLS and Chinese Super League clubs, the Liverpool legend is reportedly willing to return to his former club for a managerial role.

Goal.com reports that the 36-year-old is in talks with Liverpool Academy director Alex Inglethorpe in order to launch his coaching career for the club which he made 710 appearances for as a player. Scottish Premier League giants Celtic are also said to be keen on landing his signature. It is believed that he the Celts want him to reunite with his former manager Brendan Rodgers and teammate Kolo Toure at the club for one more season.
At LA Galaxy, the Englishman made 34 league appearances in the 2015/16 season and scored five goals. At Liverpool, he made 504 league appearances from 1998 to 2016 and scored 120 goals.
