The Armenian midfielder led his National Team to a come-from-behind win last week, raising questions about Mourinho's reasons to snub him.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is in for the long run at Manchester United, despite claims about him seeking for other employment opportunities.

In an interview published by the Armenian Football Federation's website, the player snubbed the idea of joiing Manchester United solely for monetary reasons, and went even further by revealing that José Mourinho's presence was key for him to make his decision.

"I was always taught by my father to challenge myself and to continue to evolve in my career and I saw the move to Manchester United as an opportunity to grow as a player and as a person. It was definitely not the salary that made me join Manchester United, I went for football reasons. For the history of the club and the coach because he is one of the best in the world," the midfielder stated.

Mourinho hasn't been dazzled by Mkhitaryan's skills, leaving him out of the squad for most of the season.

Living in England is something that doesn't come easy for some footballers, and given the small amount of playing time he's enjoyed, Mkhitaryan had his say on how easy it's been for him to adapt to his new surroundings.

"There is not much sun… but I didn’t move to Manchester to go to the beach. It has been relatively simple to adapt to the city because people are so friendly to me. It’s a dynamic city and one I like to live in… I am only missing playing time, but it will come for sure. I keep working hard and this will pay off," the player added.

Mkhitaryan was expected to play a central role for Manchester United this season, but he's failed to impress his coach. Only time will tell if he can earn a spot in Mourino's squad, but fans can rest assured that he is not thinking about throwing in the towel.
