Not just a game - Bayern using match to promote CSR initiative

Bayern Munich

Corporate Social Responsibility, or CSR is a catchphrase that has been making the rounds for the past few years. Most organizations, including sports teams, want to show they are doing something to give back. Bayern Munich is no exception, and die Roten will be wearing some unusual kits during this game. It will still be their famous red shirt, but made out of rubbish materials gathered from the ocean. Yes, you read that right: the shirts are made out of refuse in collaboration with the Parley for the Ocean foundation.

Non environmental awareness aside, Bayern come into this game two points clear of surprise packages RB Leipzig. They obviously will want to make sure it stays that way (at least) as they take on Hoffenheim, a team that has never beaten them in the Bundesliga. Carlo Ancelotti will have to make do without both Javi Martinez and Franck Ribery due to injury, whilst Thiago will have to pass a late fitness test to see if he can feature.

Hoffenheim

Meanwhile, Hoffenheim are currently on a very impressive five match winning streak. After four straight draws, this uptick in form has helped them vault up the table, and they will arrive at the Allianz Arena just four points their upcoming opponents. Hoffenheim are just one of a handful of sides yet to lose in the league (the others being Bayern and RB Leipzig). Led by coach Julian Nagelsmann, the visitors are slowly growing in confidence as they chase down a Champions League berth. However, their bad luck against Bayern Munich is a major source of concern.

As noted before, they have never beaten die Roten. In 16 attempts, the best they have been able to muster is four draws. Will they be able to end that hoodoo later today?
