The 28-year-old striker has scored 10 goals in 13 matches for Die Roten in all competitions. His current deal with the club ends in 2019.

In an attempt to keep one of their most influential players around for some time, Bayern Munich's exec Karl Heinz Rummenigge has started negotiations to extend Robert Lewandowski's contract with The Bavarians as soon as possible.

With clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United trying to lure the player away from Allianz Arena, the team's sporting director revealed that a deal to keep "Lewa" with the club is about to be announced.

"Things are looking good. Talks have been ongoing for a number of days and we have gotten off to a good start. And what goes on for a while usually results in something good," Bayern's exec told Sport Bild.

Lewandowski's current deal with the club expires by the end of the 2018-2019 season, and the absence of a buyout clause forced any suitors to deal wih the team.

Rummenigge also revealed that the deal will be announced as soon as its signed, since they want ll teams surrounding the striker to back away.

"When we reach an agreement with Lewandowski, we will announce it the day after. We will not be making a spectacle out of it," Rummenigge concluded.
