Unfortunately, there was so much confusion as to whether the Real Madrid actually broke this record or not.

The first thing that pops into many people’s minds when they hear Cristiano Ronaldo’s name is goalscoring machine, because the Portuguese ace is nothing short of that. Some may even call him selfish, as he has been guilty of going for goal when he could have easily set up a team-mate.

As a result, it may come as a huge surprise for many that the three-time Ballon d’Or winner has became the all-time leading assist maker in the Champions League. Unfortunately, there were several conflicting reports as to whether the Portuguese ace actually broke the previous record that his feat almost went under the radar.

Ryan Giggs held the previous record, but not many knew what that tally was. Some claimed it was 30 assists, whilst other insisted that the Welshman set up 29 Champions League goals in his career.

It was later confirmed, as shown in the France Football infographic below, that the Man United legend had 28 assists whilst Ronnie now boasts 30.

Two assists vs. Legia on Tuesday saw him set this new record. Cristiano is now the best scorer and assister in Champions League history.

Messi, on the other hand, is the second highest scorer and third best assist maker.
