La Liga giants Real Madrid have confirmed the contract extension of one of their most important midfielders, Luka Modric. The Croatian has signed a deal that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 30, 2020.
Los Blancos confirmed the development through a statement published on their official website. After signing the deal, the ex-Spur man will address the media on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The announcement comes less than a week since the club announced a new deal for Germany midfielder Toni Kroos, whose contract was extended to 2022. Modric switched from the White Hart Lane to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2012. With the Madrid giants, he has won two Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup, one Copa del Rey, one Supercopa de Espana, but is yet to win the league with Zidane’s side. Since his arrival in the capital, he has made 119 appearances in the league and scored eight goals.
Los Blancos face Polish side Legia Warsaw later today in the Champions League in Madrid. Unfortunately for the club's fans, they will not be able to watch the 31-year-old in action today as he has been sidelined due to injury.
