Sterling sets English player record against Celtic

Sterling goes from zero to hero as wingman sets record in just 8 minutes

September 28, 2016 By Oscar Rojas
The English international was one of the talking points prior to the start of the game, considering his tense relationship with his former coach, Brendan Rodgers.

Raheem Sterling has lived up to his reputation, delivering thrills for both fandoms during the clash between Manchester City and Celtic.

The English international gave Celtic the lead with an own goal after 20 minutes, when he tried to stop a cross from getting to Moussa Dembelé. Eight minutes later, he managed to save his pride by scoring the equalizer after a top-caliber individual display, which saw them dribble past a couple of players before sending the ball into the back of the net.

Sterling became the 12th player in UCL history to score an own goal and a goal in the course of the same match, but he managed to become the first Englishman to do so in the European competition.
