Match facts and other historical stats - Roma vs. Astra

  • Roma have failed to win their last seven European games (three draws, four losses)
  • Their last victory was a 3-2 result over Bayer Leverkusen in November 2015
  • Roma's record against Romanian teams stands as three wins, two draws, and one loss
  • Astra have never faced Italian opposition before, and this will be the first meeting between the two clubs

Preview

It's been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride for Roma. The Giallorossi saw their long-standing unbeaten run in Serie A end as they lost 1-0 to Fiorentina, but appeared to bounce back by defeating Crotone 4-0 relatively easily. However, they were given a rude shock by Torino - who had not beaten them in the league since May 2007 - and ended up losing 3-1.

Tuesday was a big day for Roma fans as iconic skipper Francesco Totti celebrated his 40th birthday. Unfortunately, his goal against Torino was not enough to help the Lupi seal a win, and they now will be hoping to rebound from that shock loss by dispatching Astra in European action. Roma had to settle for a stalemate against Viktoria Plzen on matchday one and will look to turn things around against a team making only their second appearance in European competition.

Match facts and other historical stats

  • Fenerbahce have just lost one of their past 12 European fixtures and are unbeaten at home in their last six games
  • However, they've never beaten Feyenoord (two losses) nor scored against them (three goals conceded)
  • Current Fenerbahce striker Robin Van Persie began his professional career with Feyenoord in 2001 (and won the Europa League in 2002) before moving to Arsenal in 2004

Preview

Fenerbahce had to settle for a one-one draw with Zorya in their Europa League group stage opener, but the hosts, who made it to the semi-finals during the 2012/2013 edition of this competition, have always made it out of their group in their past four attempts. They are unbeaten at home in their past six matches since losing 3-1 to Molde in last season's group stage campaign. And whilst their record against Dutch opponents stands as five wins, four draws, and nine defeats, at home that translates into four wins, one draw, and four losses. Most important, they have either won or drawn their last three meetings with teams from Holland.

Meanwhile, Feyenoord sit on top of their quartet after narrowly edging out Manchester United on matchday one. The Dutch side have also won their last five games across all competitions, and as noted before, have yet to lose or concede a goal against Fenerbahce. This is their first Europa League appearance since the 2014/2015 season, during which they made it to the round of 32 before being eliminated 2-1 by Roma. Their only other encounter with Turkish sides did not end well, as they were beaten both at home and away by Besiktas during the 2014/2015 Champions League third qualifying round.
