Team news

AC Milan

Although things started off well, the Rososneri hit a rough patch as they succumbed to two back-to-back defeats to Napoli and Udinese. However, Vincenzo Montella's side rebounded this past weekend as they narrowly edged out Sampdoria, courtesy of a late goal from Carlos Bacca. For the third straight season, the Milan have to make do without any European football, and the club's weary fans are hoping that this term will be the last that the Diavolo fail to feature in continental competition.

Montella will come into this game with a crop of injuries, with Andrea Bertolacci, Matias Fernandez, Cristian Zapata, and Luca Antonelli all being unavailable. Although they enjoy a historical advantage over upcoming opponents Lazio, the Rossoneri have been less than steady and consistent this term and the Aquile surely will be hoping to take advantage of this when they arrive in Italy's fashion capital this Tuesday evening.

Lazio

Meanwhile, Lazio, who are currently under the tutelage of former striker Simone Inzaghi, earned a well-deserved 3-0 win over Pescara this past weekend. The Biancocelesti have played some solid football this season, kicking off the current campaign with a 4-3 thrilling win over Atalanta. Although they were unable to end their bad run against Juventus, it was not the easiest 1-0 win for the Bianconeri, and they rebounded somewhat with drawing Chievo 1-1.

However, their win over Pescara could have turned out very differently if the Delfini had actually converted their spot-kick. Nonetheless, they took advantage of this to fire in three goals in just under ten minutes to remain in the top five spots in the league table.

Team news

Juventus

With Inter struggling and Juventus boasting a 100 per cent win record, most had figured that this weekend's Derby d'Italia would again end on a good note for the Bianconeri. Football, as we all know, however, is a very unpredictable thing, and the Nerazzurri earned a surprise 2-1 win to save Frank de Boer from the chopping block - and hand Massimiliano Allegri's men their first loss of this season.

The result pushed Juve down to second spot as Napoli won their weekend game, and marked the second straight game in which La Vecchia Signora were unable to win. Fortunately, their next opponents, Cagliari, have not won in Turin in nearly seven years, but having experienced a shock result against Inter, Juvenus certainly will be taking this match very seriously. Mehdi Benatia now joins both Claudio Marchisio and Stefano Sturaro on the treatment table after being taken off injured during the loss to Inter, but other from that, Allegri will have everyone else of note available.

Cagliari

Cagliari finally ended their wait for a win as they thrashed Atalanta 3-0, and veteran striker Marco Borriello has now scored against three of his ex-teams (Roma, Genoa, and Atalanta). The nomadic attacker will surely relish the chance to make it a fourth former side by netting against Juventus.
