Despite their long history of prying some of Arsenal’s biggest stars from north London, Barcelona don’t appear to be done with raiding the Gunners.
The Blaugrana have signed the likes of Emmanuel Petit, Marc Overmars, Thierry Henry, Alexander Hleb, and Cesc Fabregas. Regardless, the Catalan giants now look to add another player to that long list.
According to SPORT, Luis Enrique’s side are working hard to add Hector Bellerin, the exciting right-back at the Emirates Stadium, to their squad.
This is not the first time that the 21-year-old has been linked with a Barcelona return, having been a product of La Masia. However, the Spanish champions’ need for a new right-back is back.
Dani Alves left Camp Nou over the summer for Juventus, with Aleix Vidal tasked with filling the Brazilian defender’s shoes. However, the 27-year-old is yet to impress, thus forcing Barca to look for an improvement.
Bellerin ticks all the boxes: he can defend well and offers a lot in attack due to his speed. However, the 21-year-old has three years remaining on his Arsenal contract.
According to SPORT, though, Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez has been in contact with the Gunners defender. Furthermore, ignoring calls from Barca may prove to difficult to repeat.
