Initial fears of a lengthy sideline for La Pulga can now be put to rest.

Fans worried over the fitness of Lionel Messi after he picked up a hamstring injury whilst on international duty can be rest assured that he won’t be out for too long.

The player recently took to Facebook to update his supporters on his road to recovery, insisting “everything is fine” ahead of a return to action in La Liga.

A report by Marca then followed, claiming that La Pulga holds a tiny chance of making a cameo appearance in Saturday’s tie with Deportivo Alaves.

However, the Spanish news outlet are confident that Luis Enrique won’t risk the five-time Ballon d’Or in the run-in with their newly-promoted opponents. Instead, the Asturian coach will likely leave the 29-year-old out of the weekend squad all together.

The reason: the Blaugrana play their opening game of the new Champions League season only three days later, hosting Scottish giants Celtic.

Enrique knows the importance of the latter game and will thus hold out on playing Messi this Saturday in order to have him back at his best on Tuesday. As a result, Leo will be restricted to gym work and physio with little to appearances in the next few training sessions.
