The ousted Man United boss can’t seem to catch a break in the managing world.

After Marc Wilmots had departed his position as Belgium national team coach in the wake of their disappointing Euro 2016 campaign, he was replaced by a sacked Premier League boss in the form of Roberto Martinez.

However, another axed manager from the English top-flight could have taken over the helm at the Red Devils, and that man is none other than the English Red Devils’ former manager Louis Van Gaal.

So why did the Dutchman miss out on the job? According to the Daily Mail, it was because the 65-year-old tactician gave a “boring” preliminary interview which knocked him out of contention early on.

Yes, the man who belated for his boring football style whilst at Old Trafford was asked to outline his planned philosophy for the European giants, which the FA found “draining and exhausting”.

Belgium, who begin their World Cup qualifying campaign versus Cyprus, weren’t sure their players would welcome Van Gaal’s proposed strategy and thus opted for the former Everton boss.

Martinez’s first big decision as manager was to appoint Thierry Henry as his assistant, a partnership which had fans both excited and perplexed. Despite the promise, they didn’t get off to a good start, losing 2-0 to Spain at home before getting booed by their own supporters.
