The Brazilian-born player was left out of the European tournament due to his problematic behavior on the pitch, something that he's not willing to change.

Spain's front line in the recently concluded UEFA Euro 2016 had one notable absence: Diego Costa. Even if the striker hasn't proven to be as successful with La Roja as he has been with his teams, the player's presence in the European tournament was almost a sure bet. Unfortunately for him, former coach Vicente del Bosque left him out of the squad due to his reckless behavior on the pitch.

Speaking about that issue on a TV show, Costa admitted his behavior had a lot to do with his absence. But is he ready to change? Not really.

"I know that I was left out of the Euro 2016 squad because of my temper. But if that's a problem for anyone, then I'll have to step down from any future call ups. I'm not willing to change my playing style,"Costa stated.

Costa has only played ten games for Spain since deciding to play for La Roja in 2013. The 27-year old hasn't been as influential as expected, scoring only one goal and missing out on all of Spain's games this year.

With the transfer window almost over, Costa looked back at what could have been a comeback to his favorite team: Atlético Madrid. The controversial striker also admitted that negotiations were underway to see him wearing the red-and-white jersey again, but some issues prevented him from doing so.

"I won't lie, I had the illusion of returning to Atlético. It's something that everyone knows I was looking for. Unfortunately, and even though it was possible at one time, a deal couldn't be reached due to little details,"the striker added.

Costa has scored two goals in three games for Chelsea this season, helping the team to a perfect start in the English Premier League. He hasn't scored a goal for La Roja in almost two years.
