The German center-back will join his compatriot at the Emirates after agreeing a five-year deal with the Gunners.

Mesut Ozil is loved by Arsenal fans; he has been a hit with the club’s supporters since arriving in London back in 2013.

He assists goals, assists photographers (see the tweet below), and now assists transfers, as revealed by Shkodran Mustafi in a recent interview.

The defender center-back, who is on the brink of completing an Emirates Stadium move from Valencia, spoke to Sky Sports. In the interview, the 24-year-old admitted that the Assist King played a huge role in convincing him to sign for the north London outfit.

"I did not see Per for a long time because he quit international football but I talked to Mesut.

"He told me everything I wanted to know. Everything was positive, so I was convinced very fast. It did not take much."

The deal for Mustafi is expected to be wrapped up this week for a fee that could rise to £35m. He will reportedly put pen to paper on a five year deal but won’t join up with Wenger’s boys until after the international break.

Speaking about what makes Arsenal an appealing club, Mustafi said: "I have always loved Arsenal, I like how they play here, it is not typical English.

"The game here is more like in Spain and with the German national team, keeping the ball on the grass, so it was easy to convince me."

The German defender’s inevitable arrival will help ease the Gunners’ defensive woes, as Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista are both out with injuries.

Rob Holding has deputized, performing well alongside Koscielny, but Mustafi’s experience may see the German slot right into the starting eleven.
