Luis Nani claims ‘worst moment of his life’ was at Man United

August 18, 2016 By Andrew Amoth Wandola
Luis Nani has opened up about his experience at Man United after Sir Alex Ferguson's departure.

Portuguese winger Luis Nani has revealed what he went through at Manchester United after the end of Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign. The speedy winger, who recently joined La Liga outfit Valencia claimed that he experienced the ‘worst’ moment of his life at Man United under former boss David Moyes.

Nani was a regular starter in Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad and it is for that reason that he signed a new deal with the club in 2013. But his hope for regular first-team football at Old Trafford came to a screeching halt when the Scott announced his retirement from football, hence paving way for David Moyes’ appointment.

Moyes took over at Old Trafford in the 2013/14 season but handed Nani only seven Premier League starts. His season went from bad to worse when he picked up injuries along the way and started losing his form. In an interview with The Guardian, Nani recently revealed:

“It could have been the best moment of my life but it turned into the worst,

“After you sign a contract like that, you think all the people will be behind you and help you. And you see the opposite.

“Then the stress comes. I was down and, when it’s like that, of course, the injuries come too. It was a bad moment. It was something that made me very down, very disappointed.”

Nani left Man United and joined Sporting Lisbon on loan back in 2014 where he scored seven goals in 27 league appearances. He then sealed a permanent move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce and made 28 league appearances and scored eight goals. He has now joined Valencia on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
