The Barca ace's popularity is falling after two disappointing goal-less draws for his nation.

Neymar, once the gem of Brazilian football, is now slowly witnessing his popularity back home crashing. The reason: the national team captain – alongside his team-mates – have been disappointing and boring to watch in the Rio Olympics.

Despite playing on home soil, Brazil are yet to win or score, playing out two goalless draw against South Africa and Iraq. Meanwhile, the women’s side have been impressive, winning 5-1 and 3-0 against Sweden and Chine, respectively.

As a result, Marta has been growing in popularity, as seen when fans started booing Neymar before chanting her name instead. Now, one young fan has taken it a step further by actually crossing out the Barca ace from his jersey to replace it with FC Rosengård striker.

Neymar, Marta, Brazil, Denmark, Rio Olympics

The boy’s name is Bernard, and he explained his reason for the cameras, saying: “Marta is passionate, she likes to play football. She shows that women understand football.

“The women’s team is winning everything, kicking a**, and for me this is a symbol of feminism in Brazil.

“I think she fully deserves (the shirt). I think she deserves it more than Neymar.”
