Bayern Munich CEO is not impressed by Man United’s handling of Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hit out at Man United over how they have been handling midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger in the past few weeks. The former Germany captain, who recently announced his retirement from international football, is said to have fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho at the English club. Bastian is believed to be training with the club’s U-21 side, a situation that Rummenigge believes could dissuade other players from joining the Old Trafford outfit in the future.

The German midfielder was not included in the 22-man squad that faced Everton on Wednesday night during Wayne Rooney’s testimonial match. Reports in England also suggest that the 32-year-old has been told that he is free to leave the English giants this summer, with Fenerbahce said to be leading the race to sign him. The Bayern Munich president is quoted by Sky Sports as saying:

"I could hardly believe it. One or two players are going to think long and hard in future about whether they want to go to such a club

"Nothing like that has ever happened at Bayern Munich.

The celebrated midfielder joined Man United last summer but had a disappointing season thanks to a series of injuries. He made a total of 18 league appearances for the Red Devils, and scored one goal. Prior to joining Man United, he had spent 14 years at Bayern Munich, scoring 45 league goals in 342 appearances for the senior team.

The same cold treatment was applied to former Barcelona shot-stopper Victor Valdes at Man United under Louis Van Gaal's reign. The Spaniard was relegated from the first team to the reserves, and after months of frustration, he was sent to Standard Liege on loan, and later sealed a permanent move to new Premier League side Middlesbrough. Valdes in a previous match for Man United
