Match facts

  • This will be the first time Barca and Leicester face off.
  • This game will be a clash between England's and Spain's best team.
  • The Blaugrana, though, boast a good track record vs. Premier League sides. They've won almost half of their encounters (31 out of 72).
  • The Catalan giants, however, have been between on 20 occassions.

Team news and recent form

The Blaugrana have Wednesday’s fixture plus a Wembley Stadium meeting with Liverpool before they embark on their Spanish Primera Division title defense.

Luis Enrique’s men will enter the game in high spirits, having beaten Scottish giants Celtic 3-1, with Arda Turan and Munir El-Haddadi getting on the score sheet.

Lionel Messi played 45 minutes in that game, but is likely to have a bigger role in the clash with Leicester. Luis Suarez is also tipped to start, but there won’t be Neymar, as he is preparing to feature for his national side in the Rio Olympics.

Sadly, fans hoping to see Andre Gomes, Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne in action will be let down, as the Catalan giants’ summer signing failed to make the trip to Sweden.

The Foxes have only this game before their date with Manchester United in the FA Community Shield. Claudio Ranieri’s crew began their ICC campaign with a win over Celtic only penalties, but that victory was followed by a 4-0 thrashing to PSG.

A cloud of uncertainty surrounds Riyad Mahrez’s future with Leicester amid interest from Arsenal, but the Algerian ace is expected to make the starting eleven.

The PFA Player of the Season winner could be joined by newcomers Ahmed Musa and Nampalys Mendy, both of whom are yet to play a full 90-minute game for the Premier League champions.
