Chelsea defender Baba Rahman has moved to the Bundesliga to join Schalke 04 on loan. The Premier League club announced the latest development on Tuesday.
Rahman, 22, joined the Blues last season from Bundesliga outfit Augsburg for a fee of around £22m. He made 23 appearances for Antonio Conte’s side last season but left-back Cesar Azpilicueta was mostly preferred in that position. The loan spell at Schalke could last for one season as the youngster hopes to regain first team football.
The Ghanaian defender is expected to be in safe hands under his former manager Markus Weinzierl, who was the manager of Augsburg when Rahman was still at the club. Both Chelsea and Schalke announced the news on their official Twitter accounts.
