After Los Blancos' failed to pen a deal with Man United's David de Gea last summer, Navas has become the club's undisputed no.1 keeper. The Costa Rican shot-stopper had an outstanding 2015/2016 season, which ended in a Champions League triumph for the Madridistas.
In a recent interview with Adidas, the 29-year-old spoke about his side learning many things working under the French coach.
"He understands the team and has a clear philosophy.
"We all try to understand what he wants as quickly as possible and implement it on the pitch.
"One of the things that helped us win the Champions League [last season] was that we learned very fast and we had very clear ideas [under Zidane's management]. In the end, we achieved the target we had in mind."
Navas also talked about his excitement when his side beat rivals Atletico Madrid to lift the European trophy.
"[Winning the Champions League] is a unique moment and I try to enjoy these moments to the fullest, celebrating with my team-mates who had to work hard [to achieve the title]. To win the trophy was like putting the icing on the cake."
The former Levante man concluded:
"Without the help of your team-mates, you cannot do anything.
"It's an individual achievement, but they're always there to help me and I'll always be grateful to them."
Real Madrid will face Antonio Conte's Chelsea in the International Champions Cup, which will take place at the Michigan Stadium.
