Colombia international James Rodriguez endured a disappointing 2015/2016 season with Real Madrid after failing to gain a regular starting position in the line-up.

However, the influential midfielder is aiming to convince boss Zinedine Zidane that he deserves to have more playing time on the pitch.James-Rodriguez

The Spanish giants, who are currently on their North American tour, are reportedly keen to let the player leave, yet the manager has requested to hold off on selling the 25-year-old.

With the 2016/2017 La Liga season rapidly approaching, James is eager to prove himself to his French coach in hopes of gaining more time on the field.

Speaking to Marca after his team's training session in Canada, the former Monaco star said:

"I want to convince Zidane.

"This season I hope to have more minutes."

Despite Zidane giving James another chance to shine in the Real Madrid outfit, the Colombian still faces competition, as Spanish international Isco is a firm favorite for the coach.
