Former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is on the verge of landing a huge managerial job.

Ex-Man Utd boss Louis Van Gaal could land a huge job barely three months after leaving Old Trafford. The Dutchman was fired by the Red Devils after failing to steer them to Champions League football in the 2016/17 season.

The Premier League giants however won the FA Cup under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss but that achievement was not good enough to keep his job. The Daily Mail now reports that the 64-year-old has emerged as a shock target for the Belgian national football team following coach Marc Wilmot’s sacking on Friday.

The Belgian tactician was fired after failing to steer the Red Devils to the finals of the European Championship in France, not forgetting the defeats to Italy and minnows Wales. His men were bundled out of the competition at the quarter-finals. They were also knocked out at the same stage in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Wilmots took charge of the country’s national football team in 2012 and managed to catapult them from the 53rd position on the FIFA ranking table to first in a period of four years. The Belgian Football Federation has reportedly earmarked Van Gaal for the top job, but under the condition that he reduces his wage demands. The Dutchman had an impressive run with Oranje in the 2014 World Cup by finishing third, behind champions Germany and runners-up Argentina.
