A German newspaper has made a serious doping allegation against a French player at the just-concluded Euro 2016.

Bitter losers or reality? That is the question going through many football fans regarding the headline above. However, German newspaper Bild now claims that France had an advantage over Germany in their Euro 2016 semi-final fixture due to ‘doping.’

The newspaper published photos of the French dressing room allegedly taken in the night of the semi-final match against Joachim Low’s men. In the photos, an empty packet of Gurosan tablets can be seen, but are not among the prohibited substances listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency. “According to the Anti-Doping Code of WADA, any effort to gain advantages over competitors other than through the power of the body is considered doping,” stated Sorgel to Bild.

“Guronsan, for me, is therefore doping. Performance can be increased in sport with caffeine.

“It has been proven. It also increases the cognitive abilities, which means the speed of response.''

After cruising past Die Mannschaft in the semis, Les Bleus failed to beat Portugal in the finals. The Seleccao won their first European Championship title in their history, an achievement that sparked wild celebrations in Lisbon as Fernando Santos' men arrived home with the prestigious trophy on Tuesday.
