This was La Pulga’s fourth final with the La Albiceleste in a major tournament, but has not won a trophy in any of those four appearances. It was also his second-consecutive loss in the finals of the Copa America tournament, having lost the 2015 edition to the same opponents, Chile.

The frustrated 29-year-old could now reconsider his decision to turn his back on his country ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
