Croatia vs Portugal, Switzerland vs Poland: Who'll qualify for June 30, 2016 quarter-final fixture?

June 24, 2016 By Andrew Amoth Wandola
Croatia face Portugal in the last round of 16 at the Euro 2016. Here is a preview of the match, what to expect, including all the live broadcast information you need to follow the action live in different countries across the world.

Croatia, by virtue of being Group D winners, face Portugal who finished third in Group F. As per the permutations set before the beginning of the tournament, the winner of Group D would face the third-placed team in either Group B, E or F.

Quite a clever decision by Portugal despite being blasted by some fans for their poor performance at the group stage after registering three consecutive draws in their three matches. The winner of this match will then face the winner between Switzerland and Poland.

Who will qualify for this UEFA Euro 2016 quarter-final fixture scheduled for June 30?

Croatia vs Portugal: Croatia come into this fixture having won two of their three games in Group C, and lost none. Portugal on the other hand drew all their three fixtures. The two sides have faced each other thrice since 1996 with Portugal keeping a clean sheet and winning all three matches. You can back Portugal to win this after saving their energy at the group stage.

Switzerland vs Poland: Switzerland drew twice and won once in their three group stage games, while Poland won twice on drew once. The two teams have faced each other four times since 1980, with Poland winning thrice and drawing once. You can back the Polish side to cruise to an easy win here.

The winner of Croatia vs Portugal will face the winner of Switzerland vs Poland. Therefore, the quarter-final matchup could be Croatia vs Switzerland, Croatia vs Poland, Portugal vs Switzerland or Portugal vs Poland.

June 30, 2016 UEFA Euro quarter-final fixture prediction

The Portugal vs Poland fixture looks more likely. This is based on Portugal’s superiority over Croatia and Poland’s dominance over Switzerland as illustrated above.
