USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann has fired a warning shot at Argentina ahead of their Copa America Centenario semi-final clash. The tournament’s host beat Ecuador 2-1 to book a date with last year’s runners-up who boast of the likes of Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria in their ranks. La Albiceleste on the other hand cruised to an easy 4-1 win over Venezuela in their quarter-final match.
The German tactician will rally his troops against the highest-ranked country in the world of football, but claims that the task ahead does not scare him. Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated semi-final clash, he said:
"We are not scared of them (Argentina) at all. We admire their players. This is now a special moment. I told the players yesterday before we started training, 'This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity now. You got into the semifinal, you made yourself proud but now go for more.'"
"We are ready to bite, to fight, to chase them, to be all over them. If we repeat that and add a couple more percent to it, it's going to be fun. We have to be on top of our game defensively – that's a no-brainer – but we've done extremely well in the whole competition defensively.’’

The two nations have locked horns six times since 1930. Gerardo Martino’s men have won three of those six meetings, drawn twice and lost only once. The first and last time the USA beat Argentina was back in the 1995 Copa America by three goals, while two of their last meetings have needed in draws. The semi-final match will be played at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Wednesday June 22, 2016.
