It's do or die for Cristiano and Co. in their final group stage game, a clash with table-toppers the Magical Magyars.

It is one of the last two Group F clashes in UEFA Euro 2016, as Hungary and Portugal gear up to lock horns with the hopes of securing their spot in the next round. As it stands, both sides still hold a chance of progressing, but it’s The Magical Magyars that hold the advantage over A Selecção das Quinas.

Fernando Santos’ boys are level on points with Iceland, though Portugal are in third, but are a point above last-placed Austria. Bernd Storck’s crew, however, lead the group after a win and a draw.

Portugal

Cristiano and Co. head into Wednesday’s game after two disappointing draws. The Euro 2014 runners-up shared points with Iceland in their opening game after scoring an own goal, before drawing blanks against Austria in the 0-0 tie.

Their most recent fixture proved to be a frustrating game for the three-time Ballon d’Or winner, having failed to convert several goalscoring opportunities – alongside his team-mate. Furthermore, the captain missed a penalty, as he sent his second-half spot kick attempt into the right bar.

His failure to convert from the spot was the 31-year-old’s fifth miss since the beginning of the 2015/16 season, and the first by any Portuguese player in a major tournament. Nonetheless, expect the Real Madrid ace to spearhead his nation’s attack in their final group stage game.

Fernando Santos has no injury worries; however, regardless of his fully-fit squad, it remains to be seen whether he’ll name an unchanged squad for the Hungary tie. Despite boasting an unbeaten record against Hungary, Portugal could make a few changes to their lineup, as they need a win in order to progress.

Hungry

Portugal and Austria were the favorites to make it out of Group F, but it that sit in 1st place. A win in their opening game and a late 1-1 draw with Iceland have earned Bernd Storck’s crew four points.

A draw would see the Magical Magyars go through to the next round. Whilst a defeat could still earn them a progression through either a 2nd spot finish or as one of the best third-placed sides, Hungary could still fancy their chances against Portugal.

They will have to do without Attila Fiola in Wednesday’s game, as the Hungarian defender is injured and thus ruled out of their final group stage game. Elsewhere, an unchanged starting eleven is expected.
