Sweden held Italy to a draw until the 88th minute when Chiellini took a quick throw near the halfway. This led to forward Eder blasting a superb strike to give his side a late lead.

The Swedish team had quite the chance to level with the Azzurri, appealing for a penalty in injury time. However, the referee did not give the call. This resulted in a win for the Italians, securing another three points to claim the top spot in Group E.

Yet, the question remains if it was a deserved penalty for Erik Hamrén's side or just a desperate appeal to help keep their hopes alive in their UEFA Euro 2016 campaign.
