UEFA has issued a statement regarding the fan trouble that rocked the city of Marseille for three consecutive days in the Euro 2016.

England and Russia could end their Euro 2016 campaign prematurely if their fans do not heed to the warning issued by UEFA over fan trouble. Fans from the two sides have been clashing for three consecutive days since the launch of the European Championship in France. England and Russia fans fight inside Stade Velodrome

Their most recent fight was during the Euro 2016 Group B clash between the two countries when Russia’s Vasili Berezutski cancelled Eric Dier’s opener in the dying minutes of the game. Russia fans were seen advancing towards their English counterparts on the terraces after the game as they exchanged blows under the watchful eyes of the security forces who were visibly outnumbered.England and Russia fans clash inside Stade Velodrome

As reported by NDTV, part of the statement released by UEFA read:

"UEFA will not hesitate to impose additional sanctions on the Football Association (FA) and the Russian Football Union (RFU), including the potential disqualification of their respective teams from the tournament, should such violence occur again."

Prior to the match, the two warring parties also clashed outside the stadium as police used water cannon and teargas to disperse the rowdy groups of fans. The exact reason for the fight is still unclear but several media reports and eye witness accounts blame the entire problem on the consumption of alcohol prior to the game.
