Real Madrid's midfielder doesn't hold back and trusts his team's chances, despite being paired up against Spain and Turkey in the Group Stage

Facing Spain in the Group Stage of the tournament  isn't cause for concern. According to the talented Croatian midfielder Luka Modric , it's time for the team with the checkered kit to step up and win a major tournament.

In an interview with Marca, Modric revealed that his team-mates will try to benefit from knowing their Spanish opponents very well, since most of them are part of La Liga teams and keeping in mind they will have to fight for a spot in the knockout stage of the tournament in the final group match against La Roja.

"Knowing most of them can be really helpful for us. Playing in La Liga is quite demanding, and we will try to use our experience to end up shocking them. Our group is one of the toughest in the competition, but we can't do anything about it now. The only thing that's left for us to do is get ready and work one match at a time," Modric stated.

The talented midfielder has scored 10 goals in 90 games for the red-and-white side.

The 30-year old midfielder added that Ante Cacic's men are eager to re-write history, and the only way to do so is to win the UEFA Euro 2016 title.

"If you get here thinking that you won't be able to do it, then you're not going to get things done. It would be a disaster if we didn't qualify for the next stage, for example. Our first goal will be to qualify for the knockout stage, and then go from there. One thing I have on my bucket list is to win something with Croatia, and I believe we have a chance to do so this summer," Modric continued.

The player also described some of Croatia's strengths ahead of the European tournament. Modric believes that these assets can really make a difference for the Croatian crew.

"Croatian teams have always worked as a solid unit. We may have talented players in our roster, but none of that matters i you don't work as a team. We haven't been lucky enough to make things happen for us, but we have the skills and solid teamwork to change our team's history," Modric concluded.
