Portugal and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo thinks it is too early for him to start thinking of winning his fourth Ballon d’Or in January next year.
The Real Madrid star is one of the favorites to win the coveted award this year, having inspired Los Blancos to Champions League glory against their bitter rivals Atletico Madrid in Milan. He could however face stiff competition from the usual suspects Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez of Barcelona.
Here is how the three star players compare to each other the just-concluded season at the club level:
Messi: 49 appearances, 23 assists, 41 goals
Suarez: 53 appearances, 22 assists, 59 goals
Ronaldo: 48 appearaces, 15 assists, 51 goals
Speaking about his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or in the next six months, he revealed:
"It's very soon to be thinking about the Ballon d'Or
"I wanted to win something important with my club, like the Champions League. And now I want to do well in the Euros.
"I feel good about the national team."
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old has been declared fit to play in Portugal’s opening match of the Euro 2016 against Iceland. This is set to be a grudge match after Iceland coach Lars Lagerback described Cristiano as an ‘actor’ due to his ‘diving’ antics. His Portugal and Real Madrid teammate Pepe was not spared either in the bashing, and this could inspire the duo to shine against Lagerback’s men.
