Los Cafeteros head into the 2nd match of Copa America Centenario as group leaders, but may have to do so in the absence of star captain James Rodriguez.

South American powerhouse Colombia kick started their Copa America Centenario campaign with a bang, beating hosts United States 2-0 in the opening game of the tournament. The win left them one top of Group A, two points clear of second and third.

Next up for Jose Pekermen’s crew is a clash with continental rivals Paraguay, a side who failed to beat Costa Rica in their opening match. Ramon Diaz’s boys will likely be fighting with USMNT for a qualification in the last round, meaning Tuesday’s game will be crucial for La Albirroja.

Team news – who’s fit and who’s not?

Although there are not too many injury worries for both sides heading into their clash at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California, the one fitness issue in Jose Pekermen’s side may have the fans worried.

Colombia will likely lock horns with Paraguay without influential captain James Rodriguez after the Real Madrid superstar suffered a dislocated shoulder in their opening day victory. He was forced off the pitch in the 2-0 win after scoring the second goal of the day, and could now miss Tuesday’s game.

He will probably be replaced in the starting eleven by either Edwin Cardona or Dayro Moreno. Fortunately, James is expected to return in four days time when FIFA’s third-best ranked nation face-off against Costa Rica in the final group stage game.

Over to the Paraguay camp, and Justo Villar has recovered from his injury and is destined for a berth in between the sticks. Elsewhere, there are no fresh injury worries, but the likes of Derlis Gonzalez, Jorge Benitez and Nelson Valdez are all one booking away from earning suspensions.

Head to head

Both sides head into this fixture on the back of completely opposite forms. Colombia have won four and lost one of their last five games; Paraguay have earned only one victory and three draws from their last five games.

Their head-to-head record favors Los Cafeteros, as they seek a fourth straight win over La Albirroja in all competitions. It has been almost eight years since Paraguay last beat their Tuesday opponents, with that victory coming back in October 2008 during a World Cup qualifier.
