It’s been 7 months since Wayne Rooney last scored from open play for Manchester United, but ex-pal Cristiano Ronaldo expects him to find back his form soon.
Wayne Rooney’s career at Old Trafford was experiencing a negative twist until he signed a contract extension earlier last week. The Manchester United talisman has been struggling to cope with pressure following his private life scandal, but Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is sure that life for Rooney will be bright again.

“Wayne [Rooney] didn’t start this season very well, but he still a fantastic player. I know that he will soon be back to prove that.

“He has decided to remain with Manchester United and to sign a new contract, and I think we must all respect that. I’m not the one supposed to advise him on that. But, I know that things can change very quickly indeed.”

For yet another time, the former English Premier League champions will be without Wayne Rooney since the number 10 is out with an ankle injury. But does it mean that Manchester United will feel the absence of the English striker when they’ll host Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s late kick-off in the English Premier League?

The Red Devils actually have a pretty good record against Spurs as they haven’t fallen victim to them at Old Trafford since December 1989. However, Luka Modric wants to break this record when Manchester United and Tottenham will clash this weekend. The Croatian international boldly shared his confidence to the public through the club’s official website, stating:

“We are ready [to play against Manchester United]. Why not? Why not go there and try to win? I know that Tottenham Hotspur haven’t won at Old Trafford for a long time. So, why not now?

“It’s the best stage to play [Old Trafford], the best stadium, and it will be a great game for us. I hope we can do something there.”

Tottenham Hotspur are just two places behind Manchester United in the English Premier League standings as only 2 points separate the two sides. A victory for Spurs would take them up to 2nd in the table if Arsenal and Manchester City both drop points earlier on Saturday.
