Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is looking forward to working under the leadership of Jose Mourinho in the upcoming campaign.

After Louis van Gaal's sacking, former Chelsea boss has taken charge of the Red Devils and Rooney is thrilled to have Mourinho at Old Trafford. The Portuguese manager was confirmed as Van Gaal's successor last week, signing a three-year contract.

Speaking at a general press conference, England and Man United captain is eager to start working with the 53-year-old coach.

"It's exciting, Jose is one of the best managers in the world.

"He knows the Premier League really well. For myself and the other United players, it's exciting times, and I'm looking forward to it."

'The Special One' has been a long-time admirer of the English winger, as Mourinho tried to bring him to Stamford Bridge back in 2013. However, the two will finally have the chance to work together with their aims to bring back Manchester United's glory days.Wayne-Rooney

The Red Devils' first scheduled games are two International Champions Cup matches against Borussia Dortmund and then Manchester City, before the Community Shield face-off against Premier League champions Leicester City in August.

Rooney is expected to star for England in Euro 2016. He has scored 52 goals for The Three Lions. The English lads will begin their adventure against Russia on June 11th.
