The holding midfielder established himself as one of Real Madrid's best players this season. Will he be able to do the same with Brazil at the 2016 Copa America Centenario?

In what could be considered as his breakthrough season with Real Madrid, 24-year old midfielder Casemiro was an integral part of Los Blancos' UEFA Champions League success. The rise to fame of the former Porto player was not easy. However, after making it to the biggest stage in European club football, it's time for Casemiro to play an arguably bigger role: that of leading an unexperienced Verdeamarelha side to glory in the Copa América Centenario on U.S. soil.

Casemiro on Social Media

The Brazilian player is quite fond of using his social media accounts. His official Facebook page has 2.7 million followers, while his Instagram feed (casemiro_oficial) is followed by 2.1 million fans. The player also has a Twitter feed (@casemiro) , where he interacts with his 889,000 fans on a regular basis.

Casemiro's playing style & impact with Brazil

Casemiro was part of the side that triumphed at the 2011 U-20 South American Youth Championship, helping A Canarinha to win the 2011 U-20 World Cup as well. In that tournament, Casemiro performed alongside players such as Oscar, Willian and Philippe Coutinho. Since then, the holding midfielder hasn't really been able to establish himself as a regular with the senior Brazilian National Team. However, his stunning performances for Real Madrid this year in big games such as El Clasico at the Camp Nou could convince Dunga to trust him more.

Casemiro's career highlights

The 24-year-old won the 2012 Copa Sudamericana with Sao Paulo, his first professional club. Almost two years after signing with Real Madrid, the Brazilian player won the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish Copa del Rey with Los Blancos, although he was limited to a more supportive role back then.

Casemiro's 2015-2016 highlights

Following a slow start of the season, and having to deal with numerous transfer rumors, Casemiro established himself under coach Zinedine Zidane, who granted him a spot beside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

The Brazilian player took part in eleven of Real Madrid's 12 consecutive La Liga wins, which left Los Blancos only one point behind Barcelona in the title race. But his biggest feat of the season came on May 28th, when he helped Los Blancos win their 11th UEFA Champions League title against Atlético.
