As Jose Mourinho tries to construct a title-winning squad at Old Trafford next season, he may have to axe these eight Man United players.

After being officially confirmed the new Man United boss on Friday, Jose Mourinho’s next immediate task is coming up with a squad worth contending for major titles. A lot has been said about the players who could leave the club and those who could join. In our first analysis, we take a look at the players who could leave this summer.

Juan Mata

The Spanish midfielder spent most of this time on the bench under Mourinho at Chelsea as Oscar was mostly preferred as a playmaker. After struggling to secure first-team football at the Stamford Bridge, he then joined Man United and reportedly revealed that he was ''happy to leave chelsea.’’Juan Mata at Man United

He will now come face to face with his chief tormentor Jose at Old Trafford, with reports suggesting that he could be searching for an early exit rather than spending the new season on the bench.

Marouane Fellaini

Fellaini has struggled to impress many Man United faithful since arriving at the club from Everton in 2013. His numerous elbowing incidents and sluggish pace could lead to his exit this summer as Mou looks into bringing a box-to-box midfielder.Fellaini-MUFC

Bastian Schweinsteiger

One of Man United’s major signings last summer, the Germany captain has only made 18 appearances and scored one goal for the Red Devils. His season was crippled by injuries, but has been declared fit for Euro 2016. Unless he impresses the new Man Utd boss in France this summer, Bastian may not return to Old Trafford as a Man United player next season.Bastian injury

Marcos Rojo

The injury-prone ex-Sporting Lisbon defender could be axed after a disappointing season with the club. He has made 38 appearances this season for the Red Devils, but failed to live up to the expectations of the fans.Rojo injury

Phil Jones

Jones is yet another injury-prone player. He has actually suffered injuries 27 times since joining Man Utd and may not be of great use to the new-look squad under the 53-year-old.Phil Jones- Man United

Adnan Januzaj

Some time back, the Belgian used to be the darling of many fans at Old Trafford, but after setting the foot off the pedal in his journey to stardom, he could now get the marching orders under Mourinho himself. He made 50 appearances for Man United since 2013, and managed only five league goals. He was then sent to Borussia Dortmund on loan last season and only managed six appearances without a goal.Janujaz

Victor Valdes

The ex-Barcelona shot stopper, once considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, could be left out of the new Man United squad under Mou. The Red Devils boast of David De Gea, one of the world’s best goalkeepers today, and Sergio Romero who is equally good. With such a variety between the sticks, Valdes may not find space.Victor Valdes at Man United

Paddy McNair

McNair’s contract ends in 2017 but Jose could terminate it a year early. He once had some flashes of brilliance this season, most notably when he single-handedly owned Romelu Lukaku when the Reds won 2-1 against Everton earlier last season. But other than that, he went gone completely silent. Paddy McNair- Man UnitedOther players worth mentioning in the axe list include Sam Johnstone, Will Keane, Tyler Blackett and Nick Powell. That’s it for now; be sure to check out our next report on how the Red Devils could line up under their new boss.
