The Premier League has confirmed the new date for the abandoned Man United vs Bournemouth game.

The abandoned match between Man United vs AFC Bournemouth will be played on Tuesday May 17th at Old Trafford.

The match was abandoned over security fears inside the venue after a suspicious package was discovered. Fans had to be evacuated from the stadium to pave way for the bomb squad to comb the area.

Following the incident, the Premier League released the following statement:

"We can confirm that today's abandoned fixture between Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth will be played on Tuesday 17 May at 8:00pm (7PM GMT).

"We would like to thank Manchester United's staff, the police and other emergency services for all their efforts today as well as rearranging the match for this coming Tuesday.

"Both Manchester ‎United and AFC Bournemouth's management has been extremely helpful in reaching a swift resolution, which is the best possible given today's events.

"The clubs will make their own announcements regarding ticketing arrangements."

The Red Devils come into this match with slim hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League action. This comes after Man City’s one-all draw, a result that cemented the Citizen’s occupation of the fourth place on the log. To topple Manuel Pellegrini’s men from the fourth spot, the Old Trafford outfit will have to score 19 goals against The Cherries, something that seems quite impossible if Man Utd’s recent goal scoring record is anything to go by.

Meanwhile, the English giants confirmed that the match tickets will be refunded and free entry given to the rescheduled game. Part of the statement published on Man United’s website read:

''Any supporters who would have accessed the stadium with their Season Card or Membership Card on Sunday will be able to do so again, and supporters with paper tickets can use them again too, all free of charge.

"Replacement paper tickets can be issued and can be reprinted at Ticketing & Membership Services on Monday or Tuesday. Fans who come to the stadium to do this on Tuesday are advised to arrive early please to avoid queues."

The match had to be rescheduled as quickly as possible to give Louis Van Gaal’s men enough time to rest ahead of their FA Cup final against Crystal Palace to be played on May 21.
