Los Blancos conceded twice in the first 15 minutes of the game, but the Welshman carried Zidane’s crew and steered the ship to safety.

Prior to the start of the game, Real Madrid seemed to be heading for a walk in the park, but two early goals by Rayo Vallecano complicated their chances of winning la Liga.

Before the end of the first half, and with Karim Benzema out due to injury, Gareth Bale scored a crucial head that gave Madrid a bit of hope. This was Bale’s eighth goal with his head this season, the most any player has scored in any top European league.

The second half kicked off with Lucas Vazquez’s equalizer, and as time expired, Bale transformed a loose ball into the game’s final goal, capping an epic comeback that keeps Madrid in the hunt for another La Liga championship. With that goal, Bale needs to find the back of the net three more times to equalize his best goal scoring tally ever.

Fans and experts were quite surprised by Bale's performance against Rayo, since some members of the press thought he wasn't as influential as the team needs him to be. Have a look at what they had to say about him below.

Even Bale celebrated the team's big win with a tweet after the game.
