Hertha BSC vs BVB live: April 20, 2016 online & TV broadcast info

April 19, 2016 By Michelle Bonsu
Hertha Berlin will take on Borussia Dortmund in a DFB-Pokal semi-finals clash at the Olympiastadion on Wednesday, April 20th. Here are some live TV listings & online streaming options for Hertha Berlin vs. Borussia Dortmund.

For years, the Olympiastadion has hosted the DFB-Pokal final, which also so happens to be the home ground of Hertha Berlin. However, they have never had the chance to lift the trophy itself in this stadium, despite finishing as a runners-up on three occasions. On Wednesday, they will be welcoming Borussia Dortmund for this semi-finals as they hope to make another attempt at making it onto the winners' podium this May.

Hertha Berlin

Pal Dardai's men have had a solid season so far. Despite being winless in their past three Bundesliga matches, die Blau-Weißen presently sit in fourth place and are solid contention for Champions League football for the 2016/2017 campaign. This is a very big improvement over last season, which saw them barely escape the dreaded relegation play-offs after finishing in 15th place.

This is the first ever semi-finals appearance for the hosts in over two decades and they will be hoping to make a return to their own home stadium for the finals on May 21st. Should they feature, it will be their first final appearance since 1993.

Dardai will be missing both Sinan Kurt and Sami Allagui as a result of long-term injury problems and will be really concerned about the fitness of key midfielder Vladimir Darida, and the team will be counting on the tactical nous of former Chelsea man Salomon Kalou to lead the side in what will be a tough match against die Schwarzgelben.

The African star has netted a total of 17 goals, including three in the DFB-Pokal and will be expected to use his pace and finishing ability to devastating effect against Dortmund's back-line. Earlier this season, Hertha held Dortmund to a scoreless draw at the Olympiastadion and will be hoping to improve on this result in order to book their spot in the finals.

Borussia Dortmund

It was certainly a very entertaining Europa League quarter-finals clash for neutral viewers - and for Liverpool fans. Not so much, however, for Dortmund supporters. Die Schwarzgelben thought they were cruising into the semi's after racing into an early 2-0 lead at Anfield, only to see the Reds - led by former manager Jurgen Klopp - pull even.

Despite a goal from Marco Reus, it still was not enough to counteract a late goal from Mamadou Sakho. And then, in something fitting from a Hollywood movie, Liverpool completed their epic comeback with another goal in stoppage time to seal their spot in the semi-finals, breaking Dortmund fans' hearts and thus denying Thomas Tuchel's side the chance to continue their European campaign.

Given that Bayern Munich are likely to clinch the Bundesliga title - barring a shocking collapse - Dortmund's hopes of silverware now rest on winning the DFB-Pokal. Having featured in the two past finals, die Schwarzgelben are no strangers to going far in this competition.

And after rested quite a few key players during the team's 3-0 win over Hamburg, Tuchel will be using his strongest starting XI in Wednesday's must-win match for Dortmund at the Olympiastadion. Unfortunately, Gabonese star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will miss out due to a toe injury.
