The Citizens captain looks set for a return to action after being sidelined with a calf injury in mid-March.

Manchester City have been without star captain Vincent Kompany since March 15, but could welcome the Belgian center-back to the starting eleven in Tuesday’s trip to Newcastle.

The 30-year-old skipper aggravated a nagging cal injury in the Citizens’ Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev, and has been on the sidelines ever since.

Since then, Aguero and Co. made their way to the Champions League semi-finals for the very first time and have now piped Arsenal to fourth spot; nonetheless, Man City will be keen on welcoming back their star defender.

Speaking ahead of their mid-week tie with the Magpies, Pellegrini spoke of Kompany’s reoccurring injury woes, claiming that he’s back at 100%, insisting that he has the mental strength to overcome his fitness problems.

"He is a very strong player mentally so seeing him working... I think he is without any problems and he is working 100 percent with normality," said the Chilean boss.
