Our focus shifts to the EPL where Manchester United host struggling Aston Villa at Old Trafford. Here is everything you need to know about this match.

The Red Devils are in dire need of a win in this fixture in order to revive their hopes of finishing among the top four by the end of the season. Louis Van Gaal’s side now sit at the fifth position with 53 points, four behind fourth placed Man City. Even if their city rivals lose their next league fixture, the Old Trafford outfit will still need to win against Aston Villa, and hope West Ham and Southampton lose their respective fixtures.

Louis Van Gaal could welcome captain Wayne Rooney, who is reportedly fit for game time after successfully recovering from a knee injury. This would be his first appearance for the Old Trafford outfit in almost two months.

On the other hand, Villa could miss the services of Gabby Agbonlahor due to lack of fitness. However, Alan Hutton, Jack Grealish and Adama Traore could be available for selection for the relegation-threatened club.

Speaking of the relegation battle, Villa seem destined for the Championship next season. Currently, they sit at the bottom of the table with 16 points, 15 above the relegation zone. A win against the Red Devils will be important for the wounded lions, as long as Newcastle and Sunderland fail to win their respective fixtures. A loss, however, could drive the final nail into their coffin.

Unfortunately for the visitors, they have not won any league match against LVG’s men in their last 12 attempts. Out of their last 12 attempts, they have lost 9 and drawn 3.

Similarly, out of their last 30 meetings at Old Trafford, Man United have won 23 times, drawn 6 times and lost only once against Eric Black’s side.

Quick facts
