Los Blancos travel to the Volkswagen Arena for Wednesday's clash, but the odds won't entirely be in Cristiano and Co.'s favor.

Tuesday will see the return of Champions League football, with 10-time champions Real Madrid heading into action a day later on Wednesday, kick starting the first-leg of the quarter-finals.

Zinedine Zidane’s crew will travel to Wolfsburg fresh off their 2-1 win over Barca, whilst the home side are currently on a three-game win-less run in the Bundesliga.

However, the odds are not entirely in Los Blancos’ favor. Here are five stats that should have the Spanish giants wary of Die Wölfe?

Bas Dost is back!

The Dutch striker is the German side’s top-scorer, and despite missing several games, he boasts a respectable goal tally of 7 in the Bundesliga. Last season, he netted 16 in the league.

Unfortunately, it remains unknown whether the 26-year-old will start, though it looks likely that he’ll book his spot on the bench.

A stubborn back four

Dieter Hecking’s boys have lost twice this season in Europe, both coming in the group stage, they’ve only conceded 5 goals, an impressive record for a team that were grouped with Man United, PSV, and CSKA Moscow.

Die Wölfe on a winning run

In Germany, Wolfsburg have not won a game in their last three attempts. In the Champions League, however, the Volkswagen Arena side are on a 4-game winning streak, and could stretch it to five should the beat Los Blancos.

Dieter Hecking’s side to score

The Bundesliga outfits may not find the back of the net as often as Real Madrid, but they’ve scored 2+ goals in three of their last four games.

Only 3 knockout stage wins in Germany

Les Merengues, despite their recent success against Bundesliga clubs, have notoriously suffered on German soil. Real Madrid have only won 3 times in the knockout stage: twice against Schalke and once against Bayern Munich.
