Ahead of Barcelona's vital La Liga clash against Valencia, former club president Joan Laporta has fiercely criticized the Blaugrana’s new chief, Sandro Rosell.
Laporta was accused by his predecessor to have generated huge debts at the club, but he has hit back at such claims with a public attack.

“Our management of the club was excellent. We helped to build the best Barcelona team ever, but they [Sandro Rosell and his associates] have rather made a bad name of our management,” Joan Laporta complained to AS.

“This damage may result in irreparable consequences, and I do think that Sandro Rosell doesn’t deserve his position as Barcelona’s president. There’s a great deal of resentment from this board towards me.”

As he made an example about what he claims is wrong with Sandro Rosell, Joan Laporta singled out the fact that the new Barcelona president stripped Blaugrana legend Johan Cruyff from his honorary presidency back in July.

“Removing Cruyff was a mistake! I’m saying he [Sandro Rosell] doesn’t deserve to be the president of Barcelona, because he is failing in many acts.”

Joan Laporta saw Barcelona achieve unprecedented success during his last two seasons as the president of the club. Domestically, the Blaugrana successfully defended their La Liga title which they stole from 2007/2008 winners Real Madrid.

This season though, the road for Primera Division glory in Spain seems tougher for the Catalans who are currently fourth in the league standings. Barcelona will be playing the leaders Valencia in a crunch encounter this weekend, and the outcome of this titanic match promises to be vital for the rest of both teams’ campaign.

Will Pep Guardiola’s well-built Barcelona experience less progress under new club president Sandro Rosell – who is a failure according to ex-chief Joan Laporta?
