Both teams managed to get one point in their previous matches, but they can't afford leaving more of those down the road. Watch the clash between Los Charruas and Los Incas with our detailed guide below.

The South American World Cup Qualifiers continue this Tuesday with a very interesting match between two up and coming teams. Uruguay, fresh off their 2-2 draw against Brazil, will try to add more points to their tally when they host Perú at Estadio Centenario.

Uruguay managed to win their first two games of the South American Qualifiers against Bolivia and Colombia, but Los Charruas were not able to defeat Ecuador to make it three-for-three. After that disappointing loss, Uruguay bounced back and defeated Chile, and in their last game, the team led by Luis Suárez came from behind to equalize against Brazil.

On the other hand, Perú has been showing some quality football, but the outcome of their games does not reflect how they've dominated on the pitch. La Bicolor lost the first two games of the Qualifiers, including a 4-3 defeat against Chile, and eventually managed to win against a tough Paraguayan crew. Another loss against Brazil (3-0) and a come-from-behind draw against Venezuela have them sitting eighth in CONMEBOL's standings to reach the World Cup.

Uruguay owns one of the most effective offensive lines in CONMEBOL's qualifiers alongside Ecuador. The Sky Blue team has sent the ball into the back of the net 11 times. Out of those, Edinson Cavani is the team's top scorer with two goals, but Suarez's impact with the team could make Barcelona's striker the leader of the Qualifiers in no time.

The red-and-white side must improve defensively, as most of their woes have been caused by some sloppy defending. Ricardo Gareca's has allowed 11 goals so far, forcing their strikers to deliver even if they can't. The team that finished the last Copa América in 3rd place should re-consider their all-in tactics in order to prevent more damage and climb up the standings, because their most recent trip to a World Cup happened in 1982.

Head to head

These teams have played 62 games, including friendly matches. Uruguay dominates the series with 35 wins and 13 draws. Los Charrúas have defeated Perú in three of their most recent four matches, including two wins in Peruvian soil. The last time these teams played in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay won the match 4-2 in a World Cup Qualifying match back in 2012.
