For the first time since 1988, the USMNT wasn't able to walk away from the pitch with at least one point when facing Guatemala. The hosts scored a couple of early goals, made Klinsmann's crew look disoriented, and ended up praising a stellar performance by their goalkeeper, Paulo Motta, who kept a clean sheet and got the Central American side closer to the final round of the CONCACAF Qualifiers.
Rafael Morales scored the go ahead goal for Guatemala, while veteran Carlos Ruiz added a second within the first 15 minutes of the game, giving the hosts an unsurmountable lead and ending a 28-year drought against the Americans.
But despite the perfect tactics displayed by Guatemala, the man that took the blame was Jurgen Klinsmann. The German coach, who hasn't enjoyed his last few months with the USMNT, was harshly criticized for his Starting XI choices, overall tactics, and his failure to find the key to bounce back.
While some fans asked for Klinsmann's resignation, here are some of the finest tweets generated by the United States' loss against Los Chapines.
How does Jurgen Klinsmann still have a job????

Guatemala, which has a smaller population than Los Angeles, is beating the U.S., 2-0. Not Jurgen Klinsmann's finest moment. #WCQ

@J_Klinsmann - thanks for setting @ussoccer back 30 years. Stop playing people out of position. Players hate you, fans hate you. Just leave.

Not sure anyone in sports is having a better Friday night than the Guatemalan goalkeeper Paulo Motta
