Following France's second goal against the Oranje, the game's referee stopped the match as instructed in order to observe a moment to remember the Dutch legend's legacy.

It was supposed to be a moment of silence, but fans wanted to give Johan Cruyff one more round of applause.

As Dutch officials had stated before the game, fans inside Amsterdam Arena would have the chance to say goodbye to Johan Cruyff, as the matchup against France would stop for one minute to pay tribute to the late coach.

As Olivier Giroud's shot struck the back of the net to give France a two-goal lead, the ref proceeded to whistle the start of the "moment of silence" fans would observe to remember Cruyff, but the crowd decided the Dutch legend deserved better, and ended up handing him a standing ovation.
