Tributes continue for the Dutch legend after sadly losing his battle with lung cancer on Thursday.

On Thursday, the heart-breaking news of the passing away of football legend Johan Cruyff was sadly announced, with the 68-year-old Dutchman having died “peacefully” in Barcelona.

Tributes poured in from across the globe after losing his battle with lung cancer, with Argentine icon Diego Maradona saying "We will never forget you, 'Flaco' [Cruyff’s nickname]..."

On Thursday, an emotional tribute was paid to the three-time Ballon d’Or winner in a friendly between Feyenoord and Spart Rotterdam, as play was shortly stopped for a round of applause and standing ovation for the late Dutch icon.

Although Cruyff had no direct ties with either of the two clubs, Johan’s legacy in the Eredivisie will remain forever, where he won 8 league titles as player for Ajax before guiding them to UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup success as manager in 1987.
